Mandy was built for hectic times, and this was a hectic time but somehow her programming was failing, or maybe she was too tired, or maybe she had just met her match. She could feel the back of her head throbbing like it was going to come off. She had just recovered from a migraine that almost got her blind. Yet there was someone in front of her asking her how far she had come.

“Look around you, Pete. Does it look like I am making progress?” she asked.

The man called Pete looked around him. There were tents in the garden but they were in such a shoddy position it was hard to tell whether they were here to work or to play. She closed her eyes, as if by closing them she would be making anything better. Pete shook his head and walked away. He knew how she usually got when frustrated and he could tell that she was getting frustrated by the minute.

Mandy walked toward the tents. The people who were supposed to be setting them right were just arriving. They were time pressed and she needed to hear that they would do it in the next thirty minutes or so.
